This little man is so perfect. I seriously could have photographed him all day. He was such a great sleeper! He is so loved and I am very excited I get to watch him grow over his first year. Expect this little man to be on the blog again for his sixth month session and again at one year. My baby plan is a great way of documenting your baby’s first year at three milestones. I photographed the sweetest little 6 day old boy a few weeks ago. He was born on St. Patrick’s Day! He was adorable and was so good to me! After a full tummy, he was out and let me pose him however I wanted! He has the cutest little furrow of his brow, apparently he get’s it from his mama!

My bestie had a beautiful baby girl on December 30th. I am so happy for her as she begins the most important stage of her life, that of motherhood. We have been best friends since high school and have now known each other for going on 19 years (yikes!) and have been by each other as we have moved through various stages of our lives, including moving out of our parent’s home, buying our first home’s, building our career’s, getting married and now the next stage of motherhood (my BFF of course tackling that stage before me).
I still often find myself asking “how did we get this OLD?!”. I still feel like the 16 year old girls who are passing notes back and forth to each other in between classes asking “who do you like?” and who decide it is a good idea to eat an entire lemon meringue pie together right out of the pie pan with forks just because we felt like it and who skip class cause we are tired (if we only knew then that our adult futures would result in a constant state of tiredness!). How did we get to become 31 year old married woman and now one of us is someone else’s MOTHER?!. How did that happen? Where oh where did the time go? The best thing though about longstanding friendships is when you get together you are brought right back to that place where you still would think it was okay to eat an entire lemon meringue pie together right out of the pie pan with forks and instead of passing notes back and forth to each other, we are texting back and forth.
The best thing about having such a wonderful friendship is the pure happiness we have for each other during such exciting times in our lives. I seriously cannot be more thrilled for my BFF and am excited to have a sweet little girl to watch grow up.
Without further ado here is little Miss Emilie! She was a dream to photograph and soundly slept for her Auntie Trina for almost three hours!
I had my friend take a shot of me and Emilie together as I was holding her getting her into position for the next shot. I love that I have a nice picture of her and I.

With the busyness of the holidays I did not have time to blog the images from a fresh baby girl’s newborn session a few weeks before Christmas.
This little princess is a lucky little girl to have two great parents and an adorable older brother. This little lady is utterly perfect and I loved every minute of photographing and cuddling her! Thanks for the session and for allowing me to capture your little princess at her smallest!

I first off want to wish everyone a big Happy New Year! I love the beginning of a new year. It marks a fresh start. A chance to start something new, get organized, set goals, look back at the past year and hopefully appreciate where you are in your life and look at where you want to be. I do not set big resolutions per se, but I do set new goals for myself. I think goal setting is so important and gives one a chance to better themselves in some facet. After all, we all have some improvement to make, not one of us is perfect.
I do not particularly enjoy sharing my own personal “resolutions” with others. I keep them close to my heart and work on them for my own self satisfaction and personal growth. One of my goals for the year though is to enjoy more time with family and friends and to capture more of my personal life on camera. I often find myself so exhausted from working full time at the hospital and with my photography business that I have no energy to leave the house and/or pick up my camera to just take snapshots. I intend on sharing more of these personal snapshots here on the blog from time to time. I know some photographer’s frown upon mixing client work with personal snaps on your business blog, but I feel differently. I enjoy looking at other professionals sites and having a bit of a glimpse into their personal life, just enough so you feel like you get to know them a bit better.
I do not intend on flooding my blog with snaps, but just adding some here and there a bit more this year. I am such a perfectionist at heart and often find it hard to even want to take a picture if the lighting is not perfect, if there are distracting elements I cannot avoid etc. I need to learn to embrace imperfections a bit more and simply capture a moment before it is gone irregardless of how imperfect the image is.

I photographed a tiny sweet little baby girl a few weeks ago. It is amazing to me how much of a difference a few pounds makes on a newborn.
I could not get over how adorable and small she was! I really wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home, but I’m sure her parents would not have let that happen! Her parents have been waiting a long time to begin the journey of parenthood and it is so heart warming to see brand new parents so smitten and in love with their new baby. Little E has filled so many hearts with love and joy already. She is pure perfection and photographing her was a real pleasure.
I just realized I have not blogged the maternity session at Crescent Beach from before little E’s arrival, you can truly tell her parents are completely in love with her before she was even born!

I photographed the cutest little nine pound-er a few weeks ago. She is sooo adorable! It is so amazing how just a few pounds on a newborn can really make such a difference in how chubby they are. I love chubby babies and sweet little A is no exception! She has the most beautiful head of hair and big eyes. She was also very alert for a 10 day old and gave me the chance to capture some cute awake shots.
She did eventually fall into a nice deep sleep and we were able to also get her sleepy shots too. It was so great to meet you little A, thanks for having me photograph you for your very first portraits!

I photographed a sweet little princess a few weeks ago and she is sooo adorable and perfect in every way.
At only a week old, she was so alert when she was awake, but also very calm. She already seemed to be checking out her new world with a sense of curiousness. Her big sister is completely in love with her and I know without a doubt these two girls are going to grow up being best friends. I was thrilled to see when I uploaded their images at home that I captured one of my all time favorite sibling/newborn shot, getting eye contact from both a two year old and a newborn is not something you can always easily capture. Although it certainly helps to have a two year old who begs with you to take her picture and is one of the most cooperative little girls I have had the pleasure of working with.
Congratulations C family, you have two very gorgeous girls and it was a pleasure photographing them!
I love how she seems to be so deeply looking at her daddy!

Three weeks ago my cousin welcomed her third son into the world. My cousin is more like my sister as we were both only children for a better part of our childhood and are only one year apart. Our mothers are sisters and are also only one year a part, so we spent our childhood together. We weren’t so close as youngsters (we fought how sisters typically fight), but as we have become adults we have grown into being close friends.
I have watched my cousin become a wonderful mom to her boys and it has been so special to me to watch them grow and watch her family grow. I was supposed to see this new little man come into the world and I was supposed to have my first birth photography experience as a professional photographer, but Mr. Jordan chose an evening when I was at work to have as his birthday and I missed his birth by 30 minutes. I was fortunate though that I happen to work in the hospital in which he was born at, so I did get to meet this little dude when he was fresh, but I didn’t have my camera at work with me, so could not capture him quite so young.
We had our first photo session when Jordan was two days old, which I thought would go well considering how young he was. I was very wrong! He was a fuss pot and not happy at all. We tried again when he was six days old and he was a DREAM! He let me do whatever I wanted and didn’t make a peep! I am looking forward to having a new little person at my photographic fingers whenever I want, lol.
Be warned, this is a large share because I have cousin goggles on and cannot decide which images to share, so I am sharing them all (or close to it!).
This shot is inspired by Kelley Ryden, but not executed nearly as well. I still love it though! If you knew these boys, you would be impressed at their level of cooperation for this picture, lol.
I was happy to get the chance to take my first newborn outside (thanks to the heat wave in September!).

I photographed this little beauty a few weeks ago in Vancouver. She is absolutely adorable and was a dream to photograph. In fact, I don’t think I even saw her eyes open the entire time I was there! I thoroughly enjoyed photographing her and capturing her at the young age of 6 days.
Love her sweet hair, I didn’t want to put any hats on her and cover up her hair.
