My little cousin is about the cutest little baby I have ever seen! He is growing way too fast, but his personality is really starting to shine and he has become such a happy little baby!

I took some updated shots of him at 5 months of age and just learning to sit. I love this age so much! This age is such a joy to photograph! I love it when baby’s grab their toes.

This is a shot of him with my little dog Katie. Katie was so good with him. She rolled onto her back and had no issues with him exploring her. He was very curious and didn’t quite know what to think!

I first off want to wish everyone a big Happy New Year! I love the beginning of a new year. It marks a fresh start. A chance to start something new, get organized, set goals, look back at the past year and hopefully appreciate where you are in your life and look at where you want to be. I do not set big resolutions per se, but I do set new goals for myself. I think goal setting is so important and gives one a chance to better themselves in some facet. After all, we all have some improvement to make, not one of us is perfect.

I do not particularly enjoy sharing my own personal “resolutions” with others. I keep them close to my heart and work on them for my own self satisfaction and personal growth. One of my goals for the year though is to enjoy more time with family and friends and to capture more of my personal life on camera. I often find myself so exhausted from working full time at the hospital and with my photography business that I have no energy to leave the house and/or pick up my camera to just take snapshots. I intend on sharing more of these personal snapshots here on the blog from time to time. I know some photographer’s frown upon mixing client work with personal snaps on your business blog, but I feel differently. I enjoy looking at other professionals sites and having a bit of a glimpse into their personal life, just enough so you feel like you get to know them a bit better.

I do not intend on flooding my blog with snaps, but just adding some here and there a bit more this year. I am such a perfectionist at heart and often find it hard to even want to take a picture if the lighting is not perfect, if there are distracting elements I cannot avoid etc. I need to learn to embrace imperfections a bit more and simply capture a moment before it is gone irregardless of how imperfect the image is.

I hope you all have a fabulous 2012 and thank you for all your support and love!

Here are a couple of snaps I took yesterday!

Summer makes me smile.

As long as I can remember I have loved Summer more than any other season.

The warm sun, sand, beaches, swimming and general care-free atmosphere that Summer brings all make me happy. For this reason I take on less sessions in the Summer so that I can truly enjoy every minute of it with family and friends. The rest of the year for me brings a ton of work with both my full time nursing job and Trina Lianne Photography that I do not see my friends and family nearly as much as I wish to. I am enjoying a great two weeks off from my nursing job and have been out enjoying Summer to the fullest.

So far in the past few weeks I:

went swimming with my cousins in the pool I learned how to swim in

went hiking (in the rain) with some besties

spent an incredibly relaxing 4 days on the Sunshine Coast with my man and our pups

went for a great walk around False Creek with my Aussie girl

BBQ’s

Saw The Smurfs with my cousins

Shot a wedding on an organic farm in Squamish

got bit by 23 mosquito’s

read 3 novels (soon to be 4)

watched my dogs have the time of their lives running along White Rock Beach

That is just a glimpse of what I have been up to.

Here are a few personal snapshots I have taken for no one else but me.

Live life to the fullest. Enjoy your Summer as much as I am enjoying mine. Remember to take pictures while your at it.

I love dogs. I love cats. I love animals.

Most people who know me know how much I love my furry kids. My two wiener dogs and moody black & white cat are like children to me. I couldn’t imagine my life without animals. I am so happy when I get to experience others who share the same love for their pets as I do for mine. A few months ago a friend added a few furry kids to her family and it has been so great to see how much these 4 legged friends have added to her family’s life. Love for a pet is like no other and I love to photograph their innocence and personality!

Here are a few shots of my friend’s two new children.

I have been really wanting to take my dogs out for a Fall photo shoot, but due to the rainy weather I have been unable to. So instead I set up the studio and did a Fall session indoors! Its much easier to shoot them indoors anyway, less distractions! Everyone always asks me how I get them to cooperate so well. Its a combination of a few things, but mostly treats!

They LOVE food and will do just about anything if it means they get some. They are also really well trained and know commands such as sit, stay, watch me etc very well. When they aren’t looking at me, I make odd noises to get their attention. My neighbors must think I am pretty crazy if they had no idea what I was up to!

Here are a few shots from our session yesterday! I think my girls are pretty cute and I’m sure you all will too!

I took a few pictures this morning of my girls outside in this corner of yard around my building. After 5 years, the trees and shrubs are finally really starting to grow and look like they have always been where they are. I really love this time of year, everything is soooo green! I sick of the rain, but without the rain we wouldn’t have the beauty of BC.

Here is Isa, she doesn’t really like to stay.

She sees the treat in my hand and her one track mind is after it! Here is one shot I managed to get of my little red stinker.

Katie is a tad more cooperative in sitting and staying. She is the educated one who went to school though, so maybe all that education has helped?!

I bought a new macro lens a few weeks ago and haven’t had much time to really use it, but here are a few of the first few shots I took with it.

This little guy was trying to hide from me and was crawling all over this leaf like crazy! I had to take about 20 shots to get this one in focus, haha.

This damselfly was sitting there just waiting for me to come along with my camera! It really is amazing how many different insects there are out there when you on the search for them.

This lavendar looks enormous, but really it is teeny tiny! Got to love the macro lens! I love lavender, it is my favorite scent. Friends tease me and say I am an old lady because of how much I love the smell of lavender! It is wonderful to eat too, in the Summer I often make lavender lemonade.

I hope you are enjoying the little things this Summer :)

I discovered a few years ago that if I don’t take vacation from work (my nursing job) that I literally go insane.

A few years ago I had to save up all my vacation time for my trip to Europe, which led to me not having any time off work for 10 months. I turned into a run down miserable person, who I would not have wanted to be around. I learn from my mistakes and now take vacation from work at least every 4-5 months. I cannot express how much having two weeks away from the hospital benefits my soul. I am just finishing up my two week vacation and feel so rejuvenated! Jared was able to take a week off as well and we went to the Sunshine Coast for 4 days to get a little R&R. The family house on the Sunshine Coast has no cable and no computer, which is such a positive thing for me to get away from for awhile. I did however, use my Iphone a bit, but overall I sat around and relaxed. I read a novel (Memoirs of a Geisha, which by the way was a fantastic book!), something I absolutely love to do, but never seem to find the time. When we returned we got some much needed work done on the condo.

Anyway, here are a few snaps from our time on the Sunshine Coast, our pups had a fantastic time too!

Flowers were nicely blooming in the backyard!

I love Spring!

Isa running along the pier!

Many people might not know this, but photographers these days are a bit obsessed with “ugly” chairs. They have been known to hunt and search for old “ugly” chairs and drag them outside into fields and use them as props. I don’t have any “ugly” chairs, and likely won’t because the truth is I have no where to store the thing when I am not shooting it (I definitely don’t want the chair decorating my condo!). I was delighted though to see an “ugly” chair at the Sunshine Coast cottage! I had Jared drag it outside so I can use it, of course I had no kids around to model for me, so of course the fur kids were forced to pose on the “ugly” chair!

The plus sized model!

There was also this red chair, not quite so “ugly” as the other, but I took it outside for fun too.

I liked how the sun was shining through the trees.

Jared and Isa having a stroll through the forest.

Just to actually prove I was there!

Mind the messy hair, no make-up, sweatshirt look I was sporting! Afterall, I was on vacation!

I love dogs.
They really truly are a “man’s” best-friend. I have two dogs and know how much love they give and can’t imagine my life without my furry kids. I took some shots yesterday of my cousin’s newest baby, Kassie.
